Bushland Restoration Services commenced restoration at the Koala Beach development in 2003.
The development is completely surrounded by Melaleuca/Swamp oak wetlands, eucalypt forest, Banksia woodland, saltmarsh and Cudgera Creek.
The range of vegetation and the creek provide habitat for threatened species such as Koala, Blossom Bat, Glossy-black cockatoo, Planigale and Bush Stone-curlew.
There are twelve management zones within the Koala Beach Estate, and the contract includes annual monitoring of work areas and reporting.
Restoration works have continued into 2018.
