Byron Shire – New Brighton Beach Scraping Project

Bushland Restoration Services has been contracted by Byron Shire Council for beach accessway management and dune rehabilitation for the New Brighton Beach Scraping Project.

Excavators have been used to form a protective dune structure from scraped sand.

Plantings will be implemented to vegetate, stabilise and enhance the dunal system following the scraping works.

Construction of fencing is underway to protect restoration works. The next stage of the project will involve direct seeding of beach spinifex and other native coastal plants to help stabilise loose sand.
